FEEDBACK

We have been very pleased to find these in our inbox. Read on, some of these will make you smile too.

Thanks for the available PC RR downloadable material on your website.

I have to admit that I was one of those whenever they heard the name Penn-Central went "YUCH!" However, upon a brief study of your timetables on your wonderful website, I am a convert. They are loaded with good stuff and info that may not be availabel anywhere else. Thank you very much for taking the time (I have one scanning and it takes time - lots of it!) to make them available to us.

Many thanks for this site.  For quite some time I have been searching for photos of the repaired Shocks Mill bridge that was destroyed by hurricane Agnes.  Your PC POST links did indeed have an article, complete with photos, of the bridge. The only place on the net I have been able to find this. Hope you will add more PC material to this most excellent site.

Site looks very interesting, especially for this timetable/rule book fan. It has been bookmarked for further exhaustive study later when more time might be available.

Just wanted to thank you very much for your awesome service to the history of the Penn Central... I have been searching for sources to eventually compile an operating guide over the course of time of how train movement worked along the corridor, specifically Holmesburg Jct to New Rochelle. When I found your website, everything was so well organized and well done – I had to download and say thanks for the service.

I'm one of those fans that was a teen in the early to mid 70's.  I got hooked on the NYC by my father in the 60's.  We'd would pack a lunch, jump in the Buick and go sit by the NYC mainline through Elyria, Oh.  Double tracked coming from Cleveland, right next to the signals (love those round signals with the red, yellow and green arranged in the triangle!).  They'd activate on approach and I thought it was the best time... When the merger occurred the name changed.  I remember the first time I saw a PC diesel leading.  It was coal black with the white PC emblem on the front and sides.  It looked fantastic! ... I'll tell you, I killed many a study hall drawing that thing.  Some came out better than others, but it all of them looked good! Great site and keep up the good work.

Thank you for the time and effort you put into your unlikelyPCRR site. I was able to solve some conundrums about whose track was where using the employees'timetables, which must have taken you an aeon to scan in. I appreciate it! Cheers!

I found your website while doing a Google search on "Penn Central employee timetables." I have lived in [California] for a bit over 30 years now, but my "roots" as a railfan are in New York City, which included both the Pennsylvania and the NYC RRs, the E-L, plus of course the LIRR, NYC subway system, Hudson and Manhattan, etc, etc, .etc

I grew up with the penn central in grand rapids mi., this was my railroad when i was a kid, the engine house was my home away from home, when my mother was looking for me when i was a kid, she would call the engine house, and yard... i was friends with all the workers. The trainmaster [when I was] age 18 he gave me a job, i guess he thought can't git rid of you, put you to work. I worked the engine house fueling locomotives, thanks for bringing back the good old days.

Great stuff, dude!  I can certainly appreciate where you're coming from in your intro.  I too, grew up in Buffalo, with the PC's Frontier Yard practically in my backyard.  As a result of that interest and experience, I model that area and era today, living in West Palm Beach, FL. Thanks for all of your effort and time, and keep up the great work!

Man, the information on the signals is great stuff!! I'm sitting here at the office, pouring through these things.  This is almost as bad as sitting in study hall drawing the logo. I just took the test...can somebody get me into a lead unit?  I'm mainline ready! As I told you before, I'd sit there watching the signals, waiting for them to activate. I'm really enjoying the site and the updates. Please keep them coming.

I have very fond memories of Penn Central, growing up in Indianapolis in the mid 70s. I was in the 4th grade in 1973. Thats also the year I discovered trains and got an H.O. train set for Christmas, I’ve been in model railroading ever since (and I model Penn Central). I have been collecting PC stuff for many years and have a lot of paper.

You've put a lot of effort into your site. Any chance of a Penn Central photo gallery? I too lived through the PC era as it ran over the Canada Southern route from Detroit(Windsor,Ontario) to Buffalo(Fort Erie Ontario) although it has been mostly pulled up over the last decade. The very last active RPO car carried Penn Central livery - even if Conrail actually ran the train! A pity they (PC) couldn't pull it off. It was a terrific idea but they ran out of money before they could really get their act together.

Thanks for sharing your information on the Penn Central. Lot's of neat links and information.  Your layout looks awesome as well.

I grew up near the Trenton cutoff (Willow Grove) and distinctly remember in the summers the sounds of the freights and horns as I slept at night.
I had a friend who lived on Twining Rd. which paralleled the Trenton Cutoff.  We used to go down there and watch the trains.  I distinctly remember E33/44's and various other freights. I remember my father(He was also into MRR) taking me to various places and seeing "PC".
Well, all, I have come out of the closet! I tried to resist, but my childhood memories just keep plaguing me.  I dabbled in many railroads and even tried my own. After years of moving and time, my thoughts and passion always lead me back to "PENN CENTRAL" I have recently relocated to PA.  I have tried to investigate and follow the old "Dillsburg" branch, but not too much success. I did find the old bridge at "Williams Grove".
Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I am a "PENN CENTRALOHOLIC"!!!!!!!!. I need help!  Now!

WOW! Your site is fantastic.  Thank you for your efforts.  I'm an equal 3-way split on my 3 favorite roads (EL, PC, Conrail) and your site is a great find to feed my PC fix.

As a former PRR/PC/Conrail employee, retired since 1996 having served most of my carrer in Harrisburg Pa. Division and System Office
Philadelphia, I certainly appreciate your effort. I really enjoyed the PC Posts and the many rekindled memories.

...I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your site on the Penn Central: a lot!
Not that I know that much about the company or anything, but I quite enjoyed it.
(Mind you though I have books on the Italian military in WW2).
But hey again I'll ad they too were not what everyone seems to think either.
I digress... I was just reading, "The Men Who Loved Trains", now I've got a book called "A Sampling of Penn Central".
Good stuff. I gotta go back later & check out more of the info you have there. I'm not modeling a railway or anything, I just find it quite interesting.
So, to quote Neil Young: "Long may you run".

I appreciate your endeavor greatly,I forwarded it to all my friends and former Penn Central, and Conrail employees. I've got nothing but positive responses from all of them. Sincerely, a former engineer, road foreman ,and manager of operating rules. NH, PC, and CR.

Your website is the bomb, I grew up in Cleveland as a teen and Penn Central is what we had. I loved PC.
Thanks for the fun site and memories!
